Gata is a beloved Armenian sweet bread with a history that spans centuries. Each Armenian region that once spanned sea to sea gave this delicious sweet bread its own twist by adding their own flare, primarily with the same ingredients (butter, flour, sugar... and sometimes walnuts).  At its heart, it has always remained a cherished delicious Armenian treasure. Gata can be shaped as a flat cake or rolled into sweet, layered shortbread-style cookies...that's what we specialize in! It was traditionally enjoyed during celebratory occasions, too, such as holidays and weddings. To this day, you can find this wonderful treat being sold outside the ancient temples dating back before Christianity and at many beautiful historic churches all throughout Armenia!
