Gata is a beloved Armenian sweet bread with a history that spans centuries. Each Armenian region gave this delicious sweet bread its own twist by adding their own flare, primarily with the same ingredients (butter, flour, sugar... and sometimes walnuts).  At its heart, it has always remained a cherished delicious Armenian treasure. Gata can be shaped as a flat cake or rolled into sweet, layered shortbread-style cookies...that's what we specialize in. The dough is spread thin with a rich filling, then rolled carefully —creating delicate layers like a French croissant. You can find this wonderful treat being sold outside the temples dating back before Christianity and the beautiful historic churches all throughout Armenia!
